CREATION - A WORK OF JESUS CHRIST

The New Testament reveals that creation is a work of Jesus Christ.

'Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made' [John 1:3]

'There is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live' [1 Corinthians 8:6]

'By him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him' [Colossians 1:16].

The New Testament also reveals that Jesus Christ has on-going power and authority over creation:

By his word he calmed the storm [Mark 4:31-45]

By his word he reconstituted the decaying body of Lazarus [John 11]

He fed thousands by multiplying a boy's small lunch [Mark 6:30-44].

He walked on water [Mark 6:45-52].

This original and continuing creative power of Jesus Christ assure us that our personal existence, and the world in which we exist, exist as the result of the action of a God who is loving and who is for us.

The One who created us is the One who loves us so much that he chose to leave aside the glory of heaven and the majesty of his position, and to come and live incognito among us, hidden in human flesh. The One who created us is the One who loves us so much that he deliberately subjected himself to rejection, misunderstanding, humiliation, abuse and suffering. The One who created us is the One who loves us so much that he stood in our place and took the death penalty for our sins.

The Creator of the world and us is not against us. He is for us. He who created us is also he who saves us. Let us never again doubt his goodness. Rather, let us praise him for both our lives and our salvation.
